Infinix Zero Flip smartphone with triple camera and 120Hz display

Infinix Zero Flip: Not long ago, foldables phones were items of luxury, for only elite individuals who didn’t mind paying a luxury price for futuristic tech.

But now the likes of Infinix are looking to democratise the foldable experience.

Design and display The Infinix Zero Flip XL is one of the first in an ambitious wave of devices which tries to democratise foldable design mixing innovation, style and plenty of practicality for a more budget friendly price.

The brand has ensured that it has established a market share in the budget and mid-range, and with this latest Flip phone, it hints that it could be willing to challenge the big ones, if only in the form of an entry-level foldable. Well, so how does it hold up Zero Flip? Let’s find out.

Attention Grabbing, Stylish Foldable Design

The majority of attention around the Infinix Zero Flip is reserved for the foldable clamshell form factor, and rightfully so.

Much like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip range, the Zero Flip has a small footprint when folded, so it can slide easily into your pocket or a bag.

Unfold the phone and you get a 6.9-inch vibrant AMOLED display with narrow bezels, punchy colours and a high refresh rate, perfect for watching videos and playing games casually.

On the outside there is a smaller cover screen that lets you see notifications, time and incoming calls without opening the phone.

It also works as a camera preview screen to capture rear camera selfies.

The hinge mechanism is evidently smooth and while we can’t vouch for longevity, Infinix says that the hinge mechanism has been tested for quite some time and can withstand a number of folds based on internal tests.

Outside, the phone gets a glossy finish, with shades of muted matte to more expressive colors. It definitely doesn’t look like a cheap phone.

Display and User Experience

For the main screen, it’s an 6.9-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel featuring a 120Hz refresh rate making for easy scrolling and colorful viewing.

The screen is bright for outdoor use and color accuracy is good.

In software land, the Zero Flip is powered by XOS (which is based on Android 14). Infinix has also included specific features for the folding body style like multi-window, flex mode, and app continuity.

It’s about more than just the fold — it’s useful.

Performance and Hardware

The Infinix Zero Flip is supported by the MediaTek Dimensity 8050 processor along with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage.

Although this isn’t a flagship processor, it is capable of managing most day-to-day tasks quite well.

App load times are snappy, and social media, streaming and light gaming are a seamless experience. But it’s not designed for power users or hard-core gamers.

It also offers 5G connection, dual-speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

It comes with a 4300mAh battery, which might not sound huge, but the phone is well optimized and benefits from 44W fast charging, so you’ll have it back up in no time.

The Flips closet the rear are a set of dual cameras, with a lead 64MP main sensor, and 13MP ultra-wide counterpart.

It has good detail in daylight and decent quality when lighting gets low, though with a grainier output.

The rear cameras can also serve as selfie cameras when the phone is closed, for higher-quality self-portraits.

There’s a 32MP camera for taking selfies and video calls on the inner display, and it’s more than good enough for both of those things.

Pros:

Cheap folding phone?

Handy cover screen and svelte clamshell design

Decent AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate

Good cameras, selfie preview via outer screen

5G enabled connectivity with fast charging

Cons:

The performance isn’t exactly flagship either

No official water-resistance IP rating

Battery life not the greatest with heavy use

Can’t be compared against big brands with well-optimized software.

Long-term folding durability still not proved

Infinix Zero Flip: Conclusion

Infinix Zero Flip makes foldable futuristic experience more accessible to the masses.

It’s nowhere near as powerful or as polished as the best foldables, but it’s sufficiently stylish, functional and original to be a strong midrange contender.

For tech fanatics who dream of owning a foldable phone without mortgaging their home, the Infinix Zero Flip delivers some unexpected value in a category that’s barely even arrived yet.
